This painting earned me Best of Show at the Sainte Genevieve Plein-Air Competition. September, 2016. Judged by Billyo O'Donell, Brian Haynes and Craig Thomas. I began painting this when I knew I didn't have enough time to finish. It was late in the evening and I was painting on a larger board. I returned during daylight hours to to gather certain information and finish up what I started, being cautious not to disturb the lighting that originally inspired me. It was a brutally hot day. My dog, Ringo was with me and was a very good boy. I discovered that he is indeed a protective guard dog. Though he didn't need to be. He was guarding me from a little old man, shuffling down the long road, getting his exercise. Ha! I was cracking up ;)
